DESCRIPTION:The presentations will give insights into the innovation dynam
 ics in East Asia and explore the role of support institutions and firm str
 ategy in a new age of high-tech leadership. \n\nIn his book Paper Tigers\,
  Hidden Dragons: Firms and the Political Economy of China's Technological 
 Development\, Prof Fuller explains how China has managed to overcome an in
 efficient support system to create a number of vibrant high-tech firms. Th
 ese firms\, China’s hidden dragons\, are neither purely domestic nor for
 eign-owned\, but combine ethnic Chinese management and foreign financing. 
 \n\nIn his latest paper titled Catching up and Leapfrogging: How East Asia
  Has Redefined the Integrated Circuit Industry\, Prof Rasiah will explain 
 how Korean and Taiwanese firms\, along with institutional support\, strate
 gised\, caught up and leapfrogged to assume leadership in memories and log
 ic chips\, while other East Asian firms have lagged behind.\n\nAll are wel
