DESCRIPTION:The world of quantum is a fascinating one. It presents a descr
iption of nature that challenges our most routed concepts on what reality
is. For example\, quantum objects possess spooky properties that allow the
m to be in multiple places at the same time\, to move in different directi
ons simultaneously\, or to exist and not to exist\; in other words\, to li
ve several parallel stories all at once.\n\nHarnessing the power of these
parallel “universes” to compute is the realm of quantum computing\, a
world in which information is processed using the laws of quantum. Nowaday
s\, quantum computers are a subject of extensive experimental and theoreti
cal\nresearch since it is known that a quantum computer will outperform th
e most powerful computers invented up to date when tackling a specific set
of problems.\n\nWe do not have a working quantum computer yet but the pro
mise of such paradigm shift in information processing has triggered an ind
ustrial race to be the first in developing a quantum computer\, a goal now
within reach.\n\nIf you are interested in learning how a quantum computer
would change the world forever do come to my seminar in which I will try
to answer the questions: What is a quantum computer and how it actually us
es spooky physics to work? What can it do for you and for the betterment o
f society? And\, how could a quantum computer look like in the future?
