DESCRIPTION:The Internet eXchange Points (IXP) are essential for the Inter
net evolution as they empower high bandwidth low latency and inexpensive l
ocal traffic peering as opposed to transit traffic. On the other side\, So
ftware Defined Networking\, or SDN for short (and its pre-dominant realiza
tion\, the OpenFlow protocol) enables more dynamic network programmability
to control network behaviour via open interfaces\, as opposed to the lega
cy closed-box solutions and proprietary-defined interfaces. This presentat
ion then reports the work that has been done to migrate the TouIX IXP loca
ted in Toulouse (France) from a traditional to a full OpenFlow IXP. To the
best of our knowledge\, from may 2015\, TouSIX (the SDN evolution of TouI
 X) is the first Internet Exchange Provider in Europe to fully leverage Ope
nFlow for its day-to-day operations.\n\nShort bio:\n\nRémy Lapeyrade rece
ived his engineering diploma in computer networks and telecommunications f
rom UPSSITECH\, France. He is pursuing his Ph.D. in LAAS-CNRS\, France.\n\
nHis research are focused on improving scalability and resiliency of inter
net exchange point networks using SDN technologies.
