DESCRIPTION:I will give a brief account of some of the personal highlights
  of my career as a stochastic modeller\, describing a few of the research 
 topics on which I have worked and some of the collaborators from a wide ra
 nge of fields who have influenced me along the way.\n\nValerie Isham is Pr
 ofessor of Probability and Statistics at University College London. She se
 rved as President of the Royal Statistical Society from 2011-2012 and curr
 ently chairs the Scientific Steering Committee of the Isaac Newton Institu
 te\, as well as the Biometrika Board of Trustees. Her research interests l
 ie in applied probability: broadly\, the development and application of st
 ochastic models.
