DESCRIPTION:I will talk shortly about Optimal Transport in general and how
it developed. The Wasserstein distance will arise as a special case of Op
timal Transport and some properties are presented. I will shortly explain
the numerical approach of Benamou and Brenier for computing the Wasserstei
n distances. Depending on time I will present a possible application in im
aging and/or a application in convergence proofs for large scale particle
systems. Most of the proofs are quite technical\, so I will focus more on
 the results itself.
