DESCRIPTION:Recent work has shown that accretion heating in the inner regi
ons of protoplanetary disks can lead to a particle trap\, driven by a modi
fication of the drag force due to temperature gradients referred to as ‘
photophoresis’. I will discuss this and the underlying aspects of diffus
e gas aerodynamics of solid particles in application to protoplanetary dis
ks. These models also highlight several areas where the state of the art c
ould be significantly improved. I will then present preliminary work on lo
w mass planet migration torques in non-ideal MHD disc models\, were result
s suggest the torques in the ‘dead-zone’ may still be significantly mo
dified by magnetic fields\, even when the magnetic diffusivity is very lar
 ge.
