DESCRIPTION:Numerical models of the geodynamo are usually classified into
two categories: dipolar\nmodes\, observed when the inertial term is small
enough\; and multipolar fluctuating\ndynamos\, for stronger forcing. I hav
 e recently shown that a third dynamo branch corresponding\nto a dominant f
orce balance between the Coriolis force and the Lorentz force can\nbe prod
uced numerically. This regime corresponds to a strong-dipolar branch which
appears to approach\, in a numerically affordable regime\, the magnetostr
ophic limit relevant to the dynamics of the Earth's core.\nI will discuss
the relevance to this strong-dipolar state to Geodynamo modelling.
