DESCRIPTION:The widespread development of antibiotic resistant bacterial g
enerated an increasing interest in the use of alternate therapies for trea
tment of infected wounds.\nThe honey effects: anti-bacterial on wounds sus
ceptible to infections\, anti-oxidant activity that reduces the high conce
ntration of free radicals and reactive oxygen produced in the inflammatory
stage. The anti-inflammatory\, anti-edematous and exudative activity redu
ces pain\, edema and exudation of wounds\, debridement of necrotic tissue
stimulating the formation of healthy granulation tissue\, stimulates wound
contraction favoring wound closure\, and shows healing properties that mi
nimize appearance. We examine the chemical and physical properties role of
  honey on wound healing.\n
