DESCRIPTION:The use of electrospun nanofibres for guided bone regeneration
or bone scaffolds align with next-generation healthcare\, especially as e
lectrospun nanofibres are highlighted as being particularly effective in t
issue engineering. However\, optimization of the electrospinning process f
or cell growth and their interaction with nanofibre surfaces is yet to be
determined. In our studies\, we show the interaction between osteoblasts a
nd osteoblast-derived mineralized nodule formation on the nanofibre membra
ne and visualized it using 3D tomography based on focused ion beam and sca
nning electron microscopies (FIB-SEM). This new approach in high resolutio
n visualization of cells growth on electrospun nanofibers\, and potentiall
y other biomaterials allows designing new biomaterials for a range of clin
 ically important applications.
