DESCRIPTION:After discussing  current definitions  of frailty\, the main c
 ontributions in the field from the group of the speaker will be briefly re
 viewed. The lack of resources which can be mobilized at short notice in re
 sponse to stressing events characterizes frailty of old age\, but can be p
 resent at younger ages when chronic inflammatory diseases develop. The maj
 or impact is suffered by the mobility/ability on the neuromuscular front\,
  and by the immune response to known or memory\, and new pathogens.
