DESCRIPTION:Traditional western approaches to obesity include blaming indi
viduals for their 'gluttony & sloth' - ridicule and judgement of those wit
h such 'obvious' differences. In the 1990’s select medical biochemistry
and genetic research followed\, showing some cytokine (eg leptin) effects
on energy - fat metabolism\, energy sensing and appetite control. Emphases
switched to commodity technology (commodotech)-based medical research (ch
 emical/machine/electronics) & practice (pharmaceuticals/devices). Human ev
olutionary\, ecological biology reveals drives to acquire energy plus spec
ific requirements for plant-food micronutrition for healthy development &
longevity. Enough real scientific evidence means politics of commodotech p
rofits verses human and environmental health is the issue to address.
