DESCRIPTION:In _What is an Author?_ (1969) Michel Foucault re-defined the
author of a literary work as the “principle of thrift in the proliferati
on of meaning”\, i. e. as an unifying principle\, which impedes the free
manipulation and re-composition of texts. Departing from this notion\, th
e talk will tackle relevant examples in samizdat/tamizdat textual producti
on where the author lacks control over the further reproduction and dissem
ination of his/her work. The goal is to show that in samizdat the author-f
unction theorized by Foucault _disperses_ into the readers who reproduce t
he texts and construct their meanings.
