DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, there has been impressive progress in additi
 ve and subtractive manufacturing\, most commonly seen in 3D printers and C
 NC machines. However\, a third major manufacturing method\, forming\, has 
 seen little substantial change in decades. This talk will discuss the orig
 ins of this discrepancy and the potential for forming to be automated in t
 he near future\, in particular for sheet metal.
