DESCRIPTION:TeV-scale new physics addressing the naturalness problem can l
eave footprints on electroweak precision observables. In the absence of ne
w light states\, effective field theories (EFT) provide a general consiste
nt framework to characterize deviations from the Standard Model. On the ot
her hand\, some less complete frameworks have been historically influentia
l\, including the oblique parameters (most notably S and T parameters) for
malism and triple-gauge coupling parameterization. I will discuss the assu
mptions about UV physics underlying the use of these simplified frameworks
\, and argue that with recent experimental and theoretical progress\, it i
s time to go beyond them and adopt the more general EFT framework in preci
 sion electroweak analyses.
