DESCRIPTION:Recent years have seen various new approaches to low-order mod
elling of \nturbulent fluid flows. These include the resolvent-based appro
ach\, \nKoopman/DMD modes and recurrent solutions of the Navier-Stokes \ne
quations. These approaches are all linked. Recurrent solutions to the \nN
avier-Stokes equations are widely thought to give shape to the \nstate-spa
ce that turbulent motion inhabits. Yet\, the logarithmic layer \nhas remai
ned resistant to a structure-based description in terms of \ninvariant sol
utions or so-called attached eddies. The resolvent \nframework will be exp
lained in detail\, and some modelling and scaling \nresults will be presen
ted for predicted eddies in the log layer.
