DESCRIPTION:Professor Jackson’s pioneering academic research has enabled
  the\nidentification of many key principles by which cells respond to and\
 nrepair DNA damage. Recognising that many DNA damage response proteins\nre
 present attractive drug targets\, in 1997 Steve founded the\ndrug-discover
 y company KuDOS Pharmaceuticals Ltd.\, then served as\npart-time Chief Sci
 entific Officer (CSO) until and after its acquisition\nby AstraZeneca in 2
 006. In 2010\, Steve founded Mission Therapeutics Ltd.\n(Babraham\, Cambri
 dge) to exploit recent advances in protein\nubiquitylation and deubiquityl
 ation to derive new medicines\,\nparticularly for cancer and neurodegenera
 tive diseases\, and serves as\nits part-time CSO. Professor Jackson will b
 e sharing his experience and\nadvice about translating academic research t
 owards patient benefit.
