DESCRIPTION:In the 1990&#39\;s Bestvina and Brady constructed groups that 
 are FP but not finitely presented as the kernels of maps from right-angled
  Artin groups to Z.&nbsp\; I generalize this construction using branched c
 overings.&nbsp\; The main application is an uncountable family of groups o
 f type FP.&nbsp\;&nbsp\; A corollary is that every countable group embeds 
 in a group of type FP_2.&nbsp\; I will explain the construction\, and if t
 ime permits I will discuss the corollary and work with Ignat Soroko and Ro
 bert Kropholler on the quasi-isometry classification of the new groups.&nb
