DESCRIPTION:According to Giving What We Can\, Cool Earth is the most effec
 tive charity when it comes to mitigating climate change – they estimate 
 that Cool Earth can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1 tonne with each $
 1.34 donation.\n\nThe charity’s effectiveness is due to their unique app
 roach: they work alongside indigenous people to halt rainforest destructio
 n. Half of the world’s rainforest has been destroyed in the last 40 year
 s and continues to be lost at a faster rate than ever.\n\nDr Hannah Peck\,
  Head of Programme at Cool Earth\, will be speaking about the charity and 
 how they work with indigenous communities to prevent deforestation\, as we
 ll as giving a personal account of what it’s like to work in the charity
  sector.\n\nThere will be (free) food and wine (+ soft drinks)\, so there
 ’s no reason not to come to this event. There will also be an opportunit
 y to ask questions and speak to Hannah after the talk.\n\nThe charity has 
 recently been elected as the charity of both the Pembroke JP and Stokes So
 ciety. The event is hosted by Pembroke JPC\, The Stokes Society\, Giving W
 hat We Can: Cambridge\, and 80\,000 hours: Cambridge.
