DESCRIPTION:This week Nuno Gonçalves will lead the discussion about the f
ollowing paper by Nandy and Tjan: http://www.nature.com/neuro/journal/v15/
 n3/full/nn.3021.html\n\nNandy\, A. S.\, & Tjan\, B. S. (2012). Saccade-con
founded image statistics explain visual crowding. Nature Neuroscience\, 15
 (3)\, 463–469. http://doi.org/10.1038/nn.3021\n\nAbout the meeting: In t
he interest of fostering communication\, collaboration and discussion betw
een more members of the department we have decided to commence a Vision Jo
urnal Club. The meeting is on Fridays and will begin promptly at 11.30am a
t the Nick Macintosh room in the Psychology Department\, and run for an ho
ur only. The idea of this weekly meeting is to provide an informal venue f
or vision-interested researchers to collectively mull over various vision-
related articles. Unlike other talks or colloquiums\, the idea of these me
etings is not to passively sit in the audience and be informed about a top
ic of research by an expert in the field\, but instead to have a collectio
n of people who have all read the article get together and work through th
e article\, clarify important points and discuss the implications. While e
ach meeting will have a host – someone to keep things (roughly) on track
  – the emphasis will be on group discussion of the paper.
