DESCRIPTION:Abstract\n\nPositive list is the long practice used by China t
 o regulate foreign investment. Specifically\, the central government has g
 uided the foreign investment by promulgating the catalogue of industries w
 hich are open\, restricted or forbidden to foreign investment. This practi
 ce has been changed first in those free trade zones by the adoption of the
  negative list\, and will be reversed eventually in 2018 according to the 
 decision made by the State Council. This change is not only the focus of t
 he on-going Sino-American BIT negotiations\, but also the centerpiece of t
 he newly-made Foreign Investment Law.\n\nBrief bio\n\nJiaxiang HU is the p
 rofessor of international economic law\, director of Asian Law Center\, Ku
 Guan Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University\, China. He earned a BA d
 egree and a MA degree from Hangzhou University\, the Mphil degree in law f
 rom Zhejiang University and the PhD degree in law from the University of E
 dinburg. He is also a visiting scholar of International Economic Law Insti
 tute of Georgetown University\, the East Asian Studies Center of Harvard U
 niversity and the Asian Law Institute of National University of Singapore.
  Professor Hu has been awarded the honors for his excellent teachings from
  the Ministry of Education\, Shanghai Municipality and Shanghai Jiao Tong 
 University. He is the author of five books and nearly a hundred articles\,
  including one of the chief editors for two books published by the Brill P
 ublisher and the author of several articles published by those prestigious
  journals like JIEL. Currently\, he is also the team leader of several nat
 ional research programs including A Comparative Study on the Regulations o
 f GM Food by Law and Policies in Different Countries and The Construction 
 of the Legal Framework of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific. Profess
 or HU is teaching International Economic Law to the undergraduates and WTO
  Law to the postgraduates. His research interests include Public Internati
 onal Law\, International Economic Law and WTO Law.
