DESCRIPTION:An international team of scientists is currently at sea on boa
rd the R/V Atlantis\, exploring the Pito Deep. This is a point at the bott
om of the Pacific Ocean where tectonic plates have exposed a cross section
of lower ocean crust. Using remotely operated and autonomous underwater v
ehicles we will collect rock samples\, map the seafloor magnetic field\, a
nd search for hydrothermal vents. Experience the expedition through a *%{c
olor:red}live%* ship to shore webcast\; an interactive\, virtual field tri
p that lets you tour the ship\, see the robots in action\, and ask questio
ns directly to the scientists onboard.
