DESCRIPTION:These informal discussions have been requested by a number of 
 students. On job hunting\, we will offer advice on when and how to apply f
 or jobs\, how to choose whether to take a non-ideal job\, and so on. Most 
 members of staff will come prepared to talk about their experiences\, for 
 example of going abroad to work\, and decisions about whether/when to retu
 rn "home". But it will work best if you come with your own questions\, exp
 eriences\, hopes and worries too.\n  On getting published\, we will offer 
 general guidelines\, especially for reviewing\, but as expectations and pr
 ocedures about publication are somewhat different in the different branche
 s of linguistics\, it will again work best if you bring specific examples 
 and questions with you.
