DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will discuss three interesting (and rather diff
 erent) research problems that the computational design group is currently 
 working on:\n1. Computing the efficiency of a jet engine (and quantifying 
 the uncertainties therein)\;\n2. Polynomial interpolation and approximatio
 n (and why we are still so interested in it)\;\n3. Reducing the dimensiona
 lity of a high dimensional problem (and visualizing it!).\nThese research 
 problems will be presented from a relatively high-level perspective.
