 Giving What We Can: Cambridge\, Just Love Cambridge and the Cambridge Budd
 hist Society are delighted to host Fran Day\, who will draw on her persona
 l experiences to discuss the relationship between religious faith and givi
 ng to effective charities.\n\nMany religions give a clear call for the ric
 h to give their money\, going as far as encouraging the rich to sell their
  positions to obtain more money to donate. Globally speaking\, we are the 
 rich\, but we oftentime neglect this radical giving when we practice our r
 eligion. Fran will discuss these issues\, drawing on her experience with t
 he Giving What We Can community as well as her personal faith. She will ex
 plore how we can challenge ourselves to give more to charity\, how we migh
 t decide which charities to give to\, and how we can balance global and lo
 cal needs with personal faith.\n\nFran is finishing her PhD in theoretical
  physics at Oxford. She has been a Christian for five years and a member o
 f Giving What We Can for three. Her research involves using X-ray telescop
 e observations to search for signals from new particles. She is also a sta
 nd-up comedian\, and last August took her solo show Physics Fan Fiction to
  the Edinburgh Fringe. Fran will be moving to Cambridge in October to take
  up a Junior Research Fellowship at Peterhouse.\n\nWe are having dinner wi
