DESCRIPTION:Universal Grammar is a fundamental (though disputed) notion in
  linguistics. Over the past decades our understanding of it has changed no
 n-trivially. In this talk\, I will first provide a brief introduction to g
 rammatical universals and then discuss a series of linguistic phenomena th
 at can(not) be attributed to Universal Grammar. I will also talk a bit abo
 ut my own project (flexibility of syntactic categories) and how it contrib
 utes to the exploration of the human language competence.
