DESCRIPTION:I will discuss two recent developments at the intersection of 
 holography and quantum information science: Ryu-Takayanagi surfaces as pro
 bes of matter fields configurations in emergent holographic geometries (15
 09.00113\, 1606.03307) and an attempt to quantify complexity of free quant
 um field theory ground states (work in progress with Chapman\, Marrochio a
 nd Pastawski).
