DESCRIPTION:Recent studies have shown that black hole dynamics have an ext
remely simplified limit in a sufficiently large spacetime dimension: the l
arge ‘D’ limit. In the large D limit\, black hole dynamics are describ
ed by an effective membrane theory of collective variables on the horizon\
, which is useful to explore a vast variety of black holes in higher dimen
sions. In this talk\, I will explain the large D limit of General Relativi
ty\, emergent effective membrane theory and its applications.
