DESCRIPTION:Please Join us for a talk by Dr Lorna Williamson OBE. Dr Lorna
Williamson OBE\n\n_In this talk\, I aim to cover some topics which link t
ogether and reflect my past and current experiences:\nI will debunk some m
yths about the work of pathologists\, and show how we fit into the team wh
ich cares for patients. To illustrate the scope of pathologists’ activit
ies\, I will describe (and hopefully introduce) a young woman who has had
lung transplantation for cystic fibrosis. This will lead into a review of
some of the current issues in organ donation/transplantation\, including
‘opt-out’ consent\, hopefully leaving the audience with much to discus
s over dinner. I will end by describing the ways in which pathologists a
re taking their subject to the public\, and invite the scientists in the r
oom to do the same._\n\nPlease sign up for a free place here: http://www.l
