DESCRIPTION:Abstract: My group uses genetic approaches to study the intert
wined roles of both Wnt and Hedgehog signaling in cell-fate decisions and
amplification of stem and progenitor cell populations during embryonic and
post-natal mammary development. We also investigate how these functions
are linked to tumor onset and progression in adult mice. In an effort to i
dentify further lineage markers with better prognostic utility for breast
cancer subtypes we have begun to investigate a novel Adhesion-G-protein co
upled receptor and a TGFbeta-binding protein\, which identify early mammar
y stem/progenitors cells and specific luminal subpopulations respectively.
