DESCRIPTION:Many genes are post-transcriptionally regulated via conserved 
 RNA motifs\, and some genes produce functional RNAs rather than encoding p
 roteins.  Genomic analysis of RNA challenges the standard sequence analysi
 s tools of computational biology\, because conserved RNA secondary structu
 re is such an important feature of many functional RNAs.  New algorithms i
 deally suited to RNA secondary structure and sequence analysis have been b
 orrowed from computational linguistics. These algorithms have enabled a ne
 w generation of RNA gene-finding and RNA homology search software\, and th
 e identification of new non-coding RNA genes and new RNA-based regulatory 
 circuits by comparative genomics. \n
