DESCRIPTION:If knots are what you think they are\, the same is true for ta
 ngles. A peculiar module is a certain invariant of 4-ended tangles that I 
 developed in my PhD thesis as a tool for studying the local behaviour of H
 eegaard Floer homology for knots. I will try to explain why peculiar modul
 es might be interesting objects to study and perhaps discuss one or two fe
 atures of interest.
