DESCRIPTION:The direct detection of gravitational waves (GWs) by Advanced
LIGO heralded the beginning of a new era in experimental gravity. A new po
pulation of high-mass black holes is being unveiled and by analysing signa
ls of GWs emitted by coalescing black hole binaries\, we will be able to u
nderstand their origin. The detection of GWs from compact binaries also pr
ovides an ideal opportunity to test the non-linear dynamics of general rel
ativity in its relativistic\, strong-field regime\, that was so far inacce
ssible to us. In this talk I will present results obtained by analysing th
 e first three GW detections\, GW150914\, GW151226 and the most recent GW17
 0104
