DESCRIPTION:Join us next Friday 5 May for a talk by Bede Sheppard\, Deputy
  Director of the Children’s Rights Division of Human Rights Watch. Shepp
 ard specializes in the issues of attacks on students\, teachers\, and scho
 ols\, as well as the military use of schools. He has conducted investigati
 ons and advocacy on a broad range of countries\, including the Democratic 
 Republic of Congo\, Japan\, India\, Indonesia\, Nepal\, Nigeria\, Pakistan
 \, the Philippines\, Thailand\, Ukraine\, and Yemen. Prior to working at H
 uman Rights Watch\, Sheppard worked for the United Nations High Commission
 er for Refugees in Croatia\, and as an attorney with a Washington DC law f
 irm\, conducting field investigations into human rights abuses in Indonesi
 a and South Africa.\n\nThis talk is part of the Centre of Governance and H
 uman Rights Events series. It is intended to provide a forum for students 
 and researchers\, particularly those who may be interested in pursuing a c
 areer in the ’Third Sector\,’ to ask questions about what this work in
