DESCRIPTION:The 7th Annual Cambridge Vsesvit Evening marks the 1917 centen
 ary with an evening of artistic performance and literary readings of Vasyl
  Chumak\, Pavlo Tychyna\, Vladimir Maiakovskii and more. The event feature
 s a special presentation by Mikhai Tymoshenko and Kyrylo Horishnyi\, the m
 inds behind the first graphic novel based on a work of Ukrainian literatur
 e\, Ivan Franko's Heroi ponevoli. \n\nThe Annual Cambridge Vsesvit Evening
  was started in 2011 to celebrate the art of literary translation and the 
 mission of the journal Vsesvit (The Universe)\, the oldest active literary
  journal in Ukraine. Founded in 1925 by Oleksandr Dovzhenko\, Vasyl' Blaky
 tnyi\, and Mykola Khvyl'ovyi\, the journal has translated over 4\,000 work
 s from 98 literatures of the world into the Ukrainian language.\n\nThe Vse
 svit Evening consists of artistic performances and literary readings of te
 xts in the original language(s) and in English translation. The readings a
 re performed by the students and academic staff of Cambridge's Faculty of 
 Modern and Medieval Languages. Languages read to date include Belarusian\,
  Irish\, Chinese\, Lithuanian\, French\, German\, Russian\, Polish\, Hebre
 w\, Italian\, Georgian\, Armenian\, Turkish\, Catalan\, and Yiddish.
