DESCRIPTION:I will report the latest ideas and results in our research \ne
xploring how children develop and revise intuitive theories. Two lines \no
f research show\, first\, that young children can infer over hypotheses\,
\nabstract relations\, and 'framework theories' from data\, as well as \ni
nferring specific cause effect relationships\, and second that varieties \
nof sampling used in machine learning can provide a good account of how \n
this is possible at the algorithmic level.
