DESCRIPTION:Does the prenatal environment contribute to subsequent behavio
ural problems in childhood? This talk critically explores biologically pla
usible mechanisms and presents epidemiological studies examining evidence
for in-utero programming of mental health. Examples are drawn from work on
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms\, and obesity.
Further\, I present my latest research endeavours. The aim is to investiga
te whether factors related to maternal lifestyle during pregnancy are caus
al and thus have public health significance.
