DESCRIPTION:The global ocean observing system (Argo\, altimetry\, etc.) pr
 ovides a wealth of information about ocean processes interacting over a wi
 de range of spatio-temporal scales. It not only allows us to monitor clima
 te variability and change but also constrains turbulent mixing rates\, int
 egrated transports\, and other seldomly observed quantities. This presenta
 tion focuses on roles played by diabatic and adiabatic processes in the So
 uthern Ocean\, North Atlantic\, and tropical Pacific as estimated in ECCO.
  An overview of the ECCO version 4 framework and new-generation products w
 ill be provided with examples of user-friendly applications that involve e
 xperimenting with the computationally inexpensive global ocean model.
