DESCRIPTION:Michaela Frye completed her PhD in Frankfurt/Main in 2000 stud
 ying the role of epithelial defensins in cystic fibrosis. In 2001 she join
 ed the lab of Fiona Watt as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the CR-UK London Rese
 arch Institute. Michaela received a CR-UK Career Development Fellowship in
  2007 when she started as a group leader at the CSCR.\n\nResearch:\nOur la
 b focuses on the identification and characterization of post-transcription
 al modifications that regulate the maintenance of adult stem cells. We fur
 ther explore whether modulation of RNA-methylation pathways can help to pr
 otect from human diseases such as cancer.\n\nOur current research themes a
 re:\n1. The dynamic deposition of 5-methylcytosine (m5C) into RNA\n2. The 
 functional roles of m5C in RNA metabolism\n3. The importance of m5C methyl
 ases in development and diseases
