DESCRIPTION:Virtualization has become a mainstream technology for commodit
 y x86 systems\, but in the coming years\, we will continue to see rapid in
 novation in this technology area. These innovations will encompass\nmany a
 reas\, including hardware assist\, I/O virtualization\, virtualization-awa
 re software\, additional services and solutions in the virtualization infr
 astructure. This talk will provide a glimpse into some of these innovation
 s and also highlight some of the open technical challenges and opportuniti
 es that remain. \n\nBio:\n\nScott Devine was a Ph.D. candidate in computer
  science at Stanford University prior to co-founding VMware. His primary r
 esearch interests are in operating systems and computer architectures\, an
 d he was a key member of the SimOS and Disco virtual machine research team
 s. He holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a master's deg
 ree from\nStanford University.
