DESCRIPTION:'In Conversation' evening with authors Iain Sinclair and Nick 
 Papadimitriou.\nIan Sinclair and Nick Papadimitriou\, writers on the waste
 lands and edgelands of Britain\, will be talking about their work\, follow
 ed by a Q&A\n\nIain Sinclair is best known for his book 'London Orbital'\,
  an account of his walking and exploring the terrain close by the M25. Iai
 n is a prolific writer of both fiction and non-fiction and has presented a
  number of films for TV and cinema.\n\nNick Papadimitriou's exploratory wa
 lks led him to coin the phrase 'Deep Topography'\, an amalgam of writing a
 nd observation. His much-acclaimed 'Scarp' is a survey of the northern edg
 es of London. Nick is the subject fo John Roger's film 'The London Perambu

 is part of the Edgelands exhibition opening at the Alison Richard Building
 . The exhibition opening will begin at 18:00 with a dance performance in t
 he atrium by LKR & Co\, choreographed by Lizzi Kew Ross with music compose
 d by Michael Berkeley. Following on from that\, the spoken word event will
  begin at around 19:00.\n\nThe Edgelands exhibition presents the work of s
 ix visual artists\, who explore and document the wastelands and the neglec
 ted environs to be found on the margins of urban living. Housing estates\,
  out of town retail parks and industrial areas\, these spaces are the grea
 t "unnamed and ignored landscapes…places where our slipstream has create
 d a zone of inattention" and yet where all manner of interest and beauty t
 hrive. The artists are Day Bowman\, Dan Coombs\, Marguerite Horner\, Barba
 ra Howey\, Lee Maelzer and Sean Williams.
