T-duality is a discrete symmetry that was disc
overed by physicists in the context of string theory\, but has now matured
into a precise mathematical statement. In this talk I will give a brief o
verview of topological T-duality and explain how it can be used to give a
new\, surprisingly simple proof of Hodgkin&rsquo\;s famous theorem on the
K-theory of compact simply connected Lie groups.
