DESCRIPTION:The U(1)’ symmetry associated with a possible heavy Z’ bos
on would have important consequences in particle physics and cosmology. Th
e motivations for this new spin-1 particle in various extensions of the St
andard Model are discussed. Present limits from EWPT and LHC data are brie
fly reviewed. A major accent is posed on search strategies and data interp
retation as a result of the Soton-RAL collaboration within CMS. New observ
ables are highlighted for both search and diagnostic purposes. Finally\, i
mplications of a Z’ are discussed including the existence of an extended
Higgs sector\, heavy and light mass neutrinos and cosmological links to l
eptogenesis. We present some of their striking signatures at the LHC energ
 y. We’ll also advertise a new interactive platform to extract bounds on
the theory parameter space from data via a global scan\, focussing on the
2HDM extension of the scalar sector.
