SUMMARY:Monodromy\, flops and deformations - Michael Wemyss\, Glasgow
DTSTART:20171108T160000Z

UID:TALK74211@talks.cam.ac.uk
CONTACT:Ivan Smith
DESCRIPTION:The aim of the talk is to explain how the topology of (simplic
ial) hyperplane arrangements\, through the work of Deligne\, enshrines var
ious derived categories in algebraic geometry with an action of the associ
ated fundamental group. This group action encodes\, roughly\, the "birati
onal geometry" piece of the derived category. The equivalences correspond
ing to monodromy in this action arise from objects which are not strictly
spherical\, but are after (noncommutative) deformation. Towards the end of
the talk I will explain a technique that shows that the action is faithfu
 l. Parts are joint with Will Donovan\, and parts with Yuki Hirano.
