 arHealth event hosted by Cambridge British Science Association and Cambrid
 ge University Health Partners to mark World Alzheimer's Month. SciBar brin
 gs interesting\, topical areas of science to the general public with scien
 tific talks followed by lively discussion.\n\nAlzheimer's Research UK will
  have a stand at the event - come along and talk to them from 6.30pm.\n\nW
 e have two speakers eminent in their fields\, Giovanna Mallucci is known f
 or her engaging talks and is Professor of Clinical Neurosciences and Assoc
 iate Director of the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) at the Univer
 sity of Cambridge\, as well as Honorary Consultant Neurologist at Addenbro
 oke's Hospital specialising in Dementia. She is also fellow of the academy
  of medical sciences. Her lab is pioneering interventions targeting common
  pathways for treatment of dementia which will also be the focus of the UK
  Dementia Research Centre. Giovanna will talk about her group’s recent d
 iscovery of licensed drugs targeting processes that kill brain cells and t
 hat are ready for clinical trials in dementia.\n\n\nDr. John Skidmore is t
 he Chief Scientific Officer at the Alzheimer’s Research UK Cambridge Dru
 g Discovery Institute (DDI) and is working with academics at Cambridge and
  beyond to build on their research-findings to develop new medicines. John
  will explore what dementia is and how it is caused by diseases of the bra
 in such as Alzheimer’s. He will then describe some of the new approaches
  towards developing treatments for these diseases being explored at the Ca
 mbridge DDI.\nEntry is FREE and refreshments are available to purchase at 
 the bar.\n\nPlease note that there are stairs at the venue so it is unfort
