DESCRIPTION:The salient characteristics of mobile wireless networks pose c
 hallenging research questions on event-based systems.\n\nIn this talk\, I
will discuss the implications of these salient characteristics on composit
e event detection and derive a number of key requirements. I will then int
roduce a model for context-dependent event detection on mobile nodes that
implements a simple degree of context-awareness. Key objectives are to min
imise wireless communication between nodes as well as computational overhe
ad on nodes in order to be compatible with strict limitations on battery l
ifetime. Focus of my work are networks employing limited devices with diff
ering specifications in highly mobile environments\, such as certain types
  of wireless sensor networks.
