DESCRIPTION:I will discuss the role of scalar fields in late universe cosm
 ology\, and their connections to the problems of dark energy and dark matt
 er.  Introducing these light scalars also introduces problematic long rang
 e fifth forces.  I will describe how these fields can be screened by non-l
 inearities\, ensuring that they are compatible with existing searches\, in
  a radiatively stable way.  Finally I will discuss the prospects for detec
 ting these scalars in terrestrial cold atoms experiments.
