DESCRIPTION:We will be discussing "Design parameters of rating scales for
web sites" by Paul Van Schaik and Jonathan Ling. ACM Transactions on Compu
 ter-Human Interaction (TOCHI) 14(1)\, 2007.\n\nAvailable online at: http:/
 /doi.acm.org/10.1145/1229855.1229859\n\nOriginal abstract: The effects of
design parameters of rating scales on the perceived quality of interaction
with web sites were investigated\, using four scales (Disorientation\, Pe
rceived ease of use\, Perceived usefulness and Flow). Overall\, the scales
exhibited good psychometric properties. In Experiment 1\, psychometric re
sults generally converged between two response formats (visual analogue sc
ale and Likert scale). However\, in Experiment 2\, presentation of one que
stionnaire item per page was better than all items presented on a single p
age and direct interaction (using radio buttons) was better than indirect
interaction (using a drop-down box). Practical implications and a framewor
 k for measurement are presented.\n\n
