DESCRIPTION:We are increasingly coming to understand that the gut microbio
ta has diverse and important effects on myriad host processes beyond diges
tion. One area that has remained relatively understudied until recently\,
is the role gut bacteria has in mediating host behaviour. This is despite
research in the 70s that suggested there could be links between commensal
bacterial\, host odour\, and kin recognition. In this talk Zen will showca
se recent studies in varied species of _Drosophila_\, that suggest a link
between gut bacteria and mating behaviour\, mediated by the action of the
 gut on pheromones.
