DESCRIPTION:Under standard mendelian inheritance\, individuals receive one
set of chromosomes from each of their parents\, and transmit one set of c
hromosomes to each of their offspring\, without bias according to each chr
omosome's parent of origin. However\, across thousands of animal species\,
males systematically transmit only those chromosomes that they inherited
from their father. I will discuss both how this remarkable type of reprodu
ction evolved and what epigenetic mechanisms are involved.
