DESCRIPTION:On the point of view of a model developer\, it looks somehow d
esperating to see how little sensitive climate models seem to be to the re
presentation of sea ice processes. By comparison\, atmospheric and oceanic
forcing\, or mean climate state look much more influential. Is this a goo
d reason to give up sea ice model development ? I will give a few elements
of answer to explain why we should maintain our efforts\, and illustrate
how the European teams involved in NEMO will project themselves into the n
ext generation of sea ice models.
